I Thank You for the sledview cam, it’s been fun to watch from Tennessee and inspiration to get back into snowmobiling. I hadn’t snowmobiled since I was a teenager and didn’t remember the trails being so nice. We bought a snowmobile and made four trips to the trails, two to Gaylord. We can’t wait for next year and hope people will post group rides to share in the fun. I would also like to thank the snowmobilers who followed the rules so we can help preserve the trail systems that so many people have worked so hard to make happen. The amount of people using the trails and their hospitality says a lot for the love of this winter sport that allow so many to get out and enjoy the outdoors winter wonderland . Let’s help out and give in donations or time to keep the trail systems going for us and future generations. Thanks Again until next season Tom
Switty, we just wanted to thank you for doing this website. Believe it or not you never know when something so simple could change somebody’s life. My sister and I happened upon your website and it inspired us to buy snowmobiles-and we live in Florida. We made it up to Michigan twice this year to use them. You can’t imagine the excitement and anticipation we had all year long waiting for our trips, it really added an excitement to our life, we are now even looking for a camp in the Gaylord area. Though we have not made it to trail 7 yet, when we eventually get there we will stop at the camera and give you a big wave and thank you. Already looking forward to next year. THANK YOU!
Hi. I can’t find a place to leave a comment for myself so thank you I guess it’s Switty. I too enjoy watching the trail cam from here in south Florida 80 here – 20 there BRRR. Being from Michigan I had a few years on my old 1971 sno-jet 338. Was fun but I don’t remember any groomed trails just fire trails.
Thanks Bob! We were just in Florida last week. We left Gaylord at 42 degrees and drove into Florida in the middle of the night at 48! I asked for my money back! Ha! Thankfully it warmed up each day!
That’s a great story. I love to check the weather on this cam, since I live here in Gaylord. I can often tell when school will be cancelled just looking at that wind whipping on your cam.
kimkay,u gotta get on 7 and run it all the way to mackinaw city. Might b around 65 miles. Stop in the dixie saloon and have lunch. From the windows you can see the straits. Good time!!
Switty, thank you for the trail cam. I live in Auburn Alabama ( War Eagle ) and watched the trail cam for 6 weeks till our trip came. We road up trail 7 from Gaylord and went right by your cam. On the way back we stopped and waved to everyone watching. The trails were great the whole time on our trip. What a beautiful town and country side. Can not wait to return next year and ride to the mackinac bridge. Some of our group were scared we would run out of gas on that trip. So we did not try it. But next year we are going to. Great times! War Eagle from Auburn Alabama
Thank you! So glad you had a great trip! If you ride to the bridge, you can then be trailered over and then ride to Mackinac Island! See you next year!
switty on the snow stake where is the actual foot mark ? is it the line above example: 1 foot would be 6″ and the line above would be a full foot or is it 1 foot is a full foot and the line above would be 1 and 1/2 foot ?
sorry I meant: 1 feet would be 6″ and the line above would be a full foot or is it 1 feet is a full foot and the line above would be 1 and 1/2 foot ?
JRS
The line above the words “one foot” is one foot off the ground. Right now there is about 1- 1 1/2 foot base. Out in the fields it ranges from nothing to 5 foot.
I am thinking about heading up this weekend but I see it is supposed to get 36 degrees on Saturday. Is there enough snow on the trails to sustain through the day on Saturday?
Thanks for the cam. I enjoy it from here in South Florida. From Frankenmuth in the summer. We never had groomed trails in the 60’s just fire trails or made our own until the snow got to deep.
we rode on sunday and stopped for a break about 4 pm sunday 2/10 and waved at the cam to all the snowmo buds… had a ball…will be back soon from indian lake ohio…
Just saw the trail groomer for the first time…not sure why but it made my night…lol…even grabbed a cool screen shot…trail looks great. Happy riding and be safe.
Groomer was on the way to rescue the other stuck groomer just south of 75…..sorry but the trails were garbage all day till we got into Indian River trail system!
But hats off to the groomers and a big thumbs up for them trying to keep up with the insane amount of traffic from the weekend warriors!
Left on sunday, rode 500 plus in 2.5 days. trails were in great shape. Cant wait to get back. Lots of police activity around gaylord, so please obey stop signs!
Switty, do you think the current trail condition will survive the upcoming Sun and Mon warm up with a qtr inch of rain? I’m heading up next week for 4 days Feb 7th-10th. Any local opinion info is really helpful. Thank you.
If we only get the 1/4 inch of rain they might survive and the warm temps are not an all day thing they might survive. But I have a feeling they will be really busy this weekend which may also take a toll. I think they will be rideable, but not great by next weekend.
Well finally we are fully covered and as frozen solid as it gets. Beauty Cam there for real views (zero reading is very kind at present). Somebody turn my cabin heat up a little please.
Fantastic view and I don’t even ride a snowmobile! However, I love to monitor the snow coverage because this is sort of near my closed-for-the-winter cabin. The quality of the picture is great.
Its about 2.8 miles north of downtown Gaylord. After you go through the Parmater road tunnel (shorter of the two tunnels heading to Vanderbilt) it will be about .75 miles on your right. It’s up on a 10 foot high pole. You will see the back side of the thermometer. The trail is fairly open and slightly bending to the right if going north. If you hit Kosiara rd (small stop sign that nobody stops at) you went to far.
Sandra Goosby
thanks so much, will be there Saturday
switty
PLENTY of snow now! Come on up and ride! If you have not booked your room yet, check out The Waters Inn @ https://www.thewatersinn.com/ Scott is the benefactor that brought the new Trail 7 Cam to life last year!
I hear ya! Makes me want to get my 2 blown up sleds fixed FAST! seeing all that snow makes me JELOUS I Live 20 miles north of port huron mi. We dont see much snow….
I was driving on Parmeter and saw all the EMS people and wondered what happened. Is he ok?
Sarah
He’s alive and well pretty banged up both arms splinted broken arm and wrist and humerus other side broken elbow and neck in a collar and some ribs cracked
We definitely want people pulling off to the side of the trail. The camera view is a little deceiving. The camera is on a slight bend, so the sleds you see to the right (west) of the trail on the camera, are actually a bit bnb off the trail. The sleds to the left, as long as they are off the groomed area, are off the trail and out of the way.
Just saw the making of the snow angel and best snow dance ever!!….LMAO….glad guys are having fun with the BEST cam in the northern lower….Thanks Switty!!
Son just came off of the trail 1/22 /2 019, 9:00pm. He said it was pretty good traveling as he went from Gaylord to the Straits and back but that almost everything was closed – he also said he was about the only one on the trail.
We have about 5 inches of new powder in the driveway. It will help the trails if it does not blow away. The wind will get up to about 25mph today and we could see 2-4 inches of more snow by tomorrow.
How much is enough tho? Can you locals answer to help us out of staters that might head up. I see temps dropping to low teens next two days and then mid to low 30’s fri-sat. This should set up a good base and then with cold temps next two days it would be a good time to groom it. Do you locals think it would be worth coming up for a fri sat and sun trip and then head back home? Thank you.
Will need to see how much we get tonight. I think they will groom if we get 8 or more inches. After tonight there is no more snow in the forecast until Sunday. My son will be riding tomorrow in the hay fields and some of the trails.
Thanks JRS. I’ll keep an eye on the total snowfall into tomorrow and look out for more replies on here. Thank you. Happy new year. So good to see it snow up here finally!
It is very depressing! I bought two sleds at the end of the winter last year so I can bring my wife and I up here on vacation 4-5 times this winter. Cancelled the pre Christmas trip last week and will probably have to cancel the Jan 4th trip too. I bet the resorts and hotels up in NWL Michigan are hurting for business right now.
I see promising snow on it’s way so don’t cancel Jan 4th trip yet. Johndee reports 8 – 12 inches in the 5 – 10 day forecast for Kalkaska region. Stop in and see us at the Starvation Lake General Store – New Ownership, New Hours, and we have Premium 93 gasoline. Pass on the word.
Thanks MichiganJim. It is somewhat of a pain as the camera is not built to stream to Youtube natively but it works with a work around. I just have to keep checking it to make sure it is up.
Yeah it’s up!! My Bf says I’m weird cuz I can sit & look @ this forever…lol. COME on MOTHER nature give us a great winter…fyi one of my fav sites. Thx 2 whomever makes it possible
I love hearing the bugs, and frogs. Is there a road near by? It sounds like its really busy. Whenever the camera goes down I’ll miss it. Many happy trails!!
Hi Kevin, sorry I didn’t see this until now. There are lots of hotels in Gaylord. The Waters Inn I’d a nice spot to stay and right across Old 27 from the trail. The closest in downtown Gaylord is a new Fairfield Inn, but most are within 1-3 miles of getting on the trail. Holiday Inn, Baymont Inn, etc.
Should be, they say Waters got 12″ already and the northern corner like Cheboygan, Rogers City is supposed to get hit pretty good tonight. It wont be great cause it is not set up, but hopefully there wont be a lot of traffic to beat them up.
Hi Sherry. The camera is actually facing Southwest, so this won’t show the Northern Lights. But, that is a great idea to point the camera to the north once Snowmobile season is over! 🙂
4″ at least yesterday! It all helps! I would ride under these conditions although I would not go too far from Gaylord. I drove to Sault St. Marie yesterday via car. The new snow went up to Indian River.
You could ride, but it won’t be pleasant. There is ice EVERYWHERE. If you need to ride the roads, they are unfortunately dry.
switty
We’ve been getting consistent snow. The weekend outlook is looking better!
Brian
Thanks for the update! If there is anyway you could give an assessment on how things are looking early to mid-day tomorrow it would be greatly appreciated (before heading up from Ohio).
switty
I can head out for a ride this morning. I would ride around Gaylord, albeit it won’t be the best. But, it won’t damage the sleds. We got at least 4″ new yesterday and maybe more. I can’t say the groomers would be out.
switty
Hi Brian. I went for a ride with the kids. You can ride. It is mostly fluffy snow 4-6″. The roads are snow covered and have an ice base. See the pictures I just uploaded to the sledview.com page.
Thanks for the web cam! I don’t snowmobile, but have a cottage up there and like to snowshoe in the winter. Gives me a good idea if it is worth the trip.
Not much. Technically you could ride on the edges of the trail, but only if you were getting to more snow. I would not ride. More snow is coming. (Not a weather forecast, just faith…)
JohnDee.com is always looking for new webcams to share on his site.
I think you would get alot more traffic if you shared this cam there in the “Northwoods Cam Network” section. Any cams that used to be around Gaylord are either no longer or not current. I found this by accident on youtube and will use it more in the future. The two closest cams that are worth anything are in Indian River or over in Mancelona. Waters cam (near The Keg) used to be good, now its worthless!
Great location, clear picture…..Thank you for sharing!
Sorry, I just realized that if you scroll down, you are already there. Well done!
You may want to ask John to bump you up to the top so you get more views. I’m sure there are many others like me that see the old frozen cam then move on to the others!
I plan to share this Webcam on several of our Black Diamond Broadcasting radio station websites
Today, I’ll begin with 98.5UPS Classic Hits at http://wups.com
Grant, don’t fret! We will have plenty more snow soon I am sure! Gaylord gets 140″ on average, so this blip won’t last long! Thanks for the nice compliment on the camera.
Hi Bill, it might be the stream resolution. There are different settings on YouTube and “auto” on your end might default to a low resolution setting. It has been pretty consistently streaming at full 1080, so let me know if you have issues and I can see if I need to adjust the settings.
For some reason I have a problem seeing the dial on your temperature on the post. When I get back to Gaylord I will have to see what I have in stock and perhaps we can get you a new one for the post. It will be my donation.
Bill, that would be awesome! The bigger the better. Although at night, the infrared might not pick up the needle. Next summer we probably will be moving the thermometer closer and adding a 2nd camera facing north.
Hello from Buffalo NY…Just found this cam over Christmas…Love it…I miss sledding…Have fun and be save everyone.
Are there any other streaming trail cams?
Hi Eric, thanks for checking in. I am sure there are, but I don’t know of any that are directly streaming live on youtube. You can check out sites like johndee.com or http://www.michigansnowcams.com/webcam_map.htm for some other cameras, but I don’t know if any of these have live streaming.
If you are riding trail 7 north of Gaylord there is a small (8-12) heard of Elk between Congdon and Parmater roads. They are on the east side of the trail 1/4 – 1/2 mile south of Parmater Rd hanging out in the picked corn field. When I last saw them they were about 150 yards from the trail. I hope they stay in the field and do not cross the trail.
Wow! I told you guys it was going to be a large lake affect blizzard in the good old snow belt of Gaylord and the surrounding area but even I did not realize this one. Happy sledding everyone.
We are getting, have been getting, and will continue to get hammered with snow tonight! The Gaylord area will end up with 13 to 18 inches of new snow from today and tonight! Trail 7 at the camera was groomed at 2:30 pm today and am sure it will continue to be groomed. It’s a great time to come up! Cold though! 5 degrees currently, with a wind chill of about -20.
Hi Sherry! I think the wind did it for us already! It’s blowing super hard right now! (Isn’t it a great problem to have… To have to clean off the snow from the camera!)
We are from Gaylord but winter in Tucson. Just talked to my son who is still in Gaylord and he said they are going to get slammed with lake effect very soon. SO if you are an outdoor person, get to it. He has ridden his sled all over the area already and said there are meny in the Gaylord doing so.
Hi. The camera has an infrared setting at night. I think it is just the way the house lights in the distance show up with infrared. Thanks for checking in!
You can ride this Trail, it just might be thin in areas. Riding on the edges might be the best bet. We will get some flurries on Wednesday and then more snow Thursday and later.
Yes and no. There is enough snow to ride, but at Cheboygan, there is a detour for part of the trail on to a road due to a bridge bring deemed unsafe for this winter.
I think the melting is done. And we do still have snow it is just hard to go on the roads in between Trails if that is needed. The trails will have enough snow to at least ride albeit pretty thin.
Seeing as how one can arrive at any destination more comfortably in a car, does it serve any purpose for snow machines to zoom by at 50 MPH, thus rendering it impossible to lift their eyes off of the narrow confines of the snow and trail unless endangering themselves and rendering impossible any enjoyment of nature and scenery except out of the corner of the eye?
Why would you even post a question like that? If you enjoy car rides, then do that and enjoy it. But most if not all people on this site enjoy the great outdoors during winter behind the handlebars of a snowmobile. A lot of people travel hours to enjoy this sport, my family and friends are some. I can only imagine you have never had the great experience of riding down a trail and enjoying that experience on a snowmobile, so please borrow, rent, or buy and try it. You just might enjoy the adventure.
Lots of places to choose from in Gaylord. Mainline hotels, smaller motels, etc. If you want simple, clean, and across the street from the trails, I would recommend http://www.thewatersinn.com/ Check availability. MANY snowmobilers stay there for the great rate and are gone most of the day and do not need the amenities of the larger hotels.
Looking forward to returning as many times as I can. This is a great way to help anyone looking to head this way to sled! Thank you again for such a wonderful contribution! I have this bookmarked and I watch so I can see when conditions are right to go. Went up last weekend to explore, broke in my new sled and did the Harley ‘wave’ for your cam. I plan to do that every time I go by. It’s my new thing! Awesome!
It is warming up today and tomorrow, so that is not good! But, it is supposed to snow Thursday and Friday and as long as we don’t lose the base we currently have, riding should be “okay”. I was out this weekend and by night on Saturday, it was getting bumpy! Not enough snow yet for the groomer to knock down the mounds and level things off. But at least we can ride!
Thanks so much. We will be leaven Wednesday Mid Day. About a 5 hour drive for us. Do you anticipate losing the base? Looks like the warms isnt gonna be prolonged by the forecast
switty
Hi Zach. I have a friend who works for the National Weather Service and I asked him about the weather/snow this week. Basically, Thursday it gets cold and snowy again, but with a chance of a quick (day or less) warm up with slushy to rainy this weekend, then plummeting temps to single digit highs around Christmas eve. Unfortunately, it is about 35-40 degrees here today and is killing the snow!
Mazie
Phenomenal view! Great to see the conditions and the depth meter is nice! Love tuning in throughout the day. Great ‘Zen’ moments, thanks to this cam!
Looking for a place to rest the head and park the sled? Look no further! This cabin located in Petoskey is just the place. Less than 1 mile from the snowmobile trail and just 25 minutes from Gaylord. Centrally located between Wolverine, Indian River, Boyne City and Petoskey, you can get anywhere from here! Full kitchen, water, electric, washer, dryer, DirecTV! Sleeps 8. $1500 a week, nightly rates available as well! Please PM, email sleepersheaven@gmail.com, text or call 2318380914 for more details. Please SHARE this opportunity with friends!!
Thank you so much for this camera with the microphone. When I have to work and can’t be up in Gaylord, I’m working away at my computer with this site minimized all day until I hear sleds coming. It’s amazing how far away you can here them! Keeps me connected to my favorite winter destination when I can’t be there. Thanks again!
WOW! I was just thinking…that tree could use a little trimming and the next thing I see is someone climbing a ladder trimming the tree! Thank You so much.
We have been meaning to do it for quite some time. Why not wait until it is snowy and cold to do it? 😉 It makes it difficult to see at night with the infrared.
Groomers will start the season panning{packing} if they get above 8″ to establish a good base. During the season most counties will groom 6 days a week as long as the temps hold up. Nice thing about this site is you can rewind the camera on you tube and watch the groomer go by at night. Pretty cool
But how does it work with grooming when do thyou y do it or is about the amount of snow how does grooming work when do they go out and do the trails ??
Nice. Sounds like the snow is coming shortly. Thanks for having this camera. I check from the GR area all the time before we head up on the weekends. Love it.
It is supposed to be fixed by December 1, so hopefully not! If it is not fixed by then, the detour will not be too bad or long as there are roads close by to travel on.
I look at this camera often to check on snow conditions. If things look good I try to plan a trip right away, and if I have planned one already I check to make sure it hasn’t melted. Thanks for putting this up, and keeping it up! Scott – North Webster, Indiana and his buddies
It doesn’t look like it, yet. Check out https://www.facebook.com/pg/TrailsCouncil/posts/ and you will see a post from Nov. 15 with a picture of the culvert that is to be installed. You may want to see the post from Nov. 18 as well regarding a re-route in Cheboygan due to a bridge closure. It looks like we will be able to use the trail all the way to Mackinaw city, but it won’t all be the normal trail.
Al Right !!! Snowing already,, let it freeze hard, get the base going,, I can’t wait to make my trips from Tn. to the great white North !!! I’m a Gander that loves skiing and snowmachining
I have been a fan of your Trail Cam from it’s inception! Rent a house south of Gaylord for 6 months, just for snowmobiling! Live in Ohio and spend as much time there as possible during those months. One of the first things I do each morning from now through March, is check the Trail 7 Camera. Thank you.
Great! Thank you for checking it out! Hoping to give trail and weather updates as we live just 1.5 miles from the camera now. I actually run the trail when there is not snow on it! 🙂
Seen this camera set up a month ago while southbound on the trail. Thought for a second, is that the trail cam I’ve been watching? Turns out it was! Thanks for doing this. Nice to see it when I’m back home in NY wishing I was on my machine.
As a former Michigander now living in Florida, I love the cam! We have a vacation home in Lewiston and get up there once or twice each winter for some snowmobiling. This camera is great for checking the conditions, and getting fired up for some fun!
this is a bang up idea and really cool. hope to see it in person one day soon. it gives me joy to see actual wind blowing and sleds passing by.thanks again Ken from millington,mi.
just saw the groomer go by a moment ago, then a sled going the other way. this is sooo cool. I will be going by there myself tomorrow. awsome, thanks again Ken
OMG I LOVE IT!! Found by accident. It’s so cool hearing the birds, dogs, and sleds lol. I wish they would put these up all over the lower and upper, just in key places. Then us poor slobs in Ohio would know weather its worth making the trip or not. I can’t stop watching…even think I cried a little knowing I’m sitting here, not up there. It’s really awesome thanks to all that put forth the effort.
You’re welcome! Hoping in the summer we get a 2nd camera facing north. Yes, I would agree with the “poor slobs in Ohio” comment but not because you are not up here snowmobiling. There is a certain university that we don’t like very much from ohio. 😉
Nothing like a live trail report!!! Excellent good can’t wait for the other (old) camera. Will the old one still move when you get it up next year? Thanks again!!!
Hi John, we hope to put up the old camera, or a new camera, with or without movement. There is a significant cost difference once you add the movement, so we will see. The old camera works, but needs some TLC!
This is awesome, I actually found this on my firestick tv through a kodi app the other night, thought it was In a different country so I got on the internet and did a search and found that it is in the Gaylord area on trail 7, as we try to ride that area once a year. some times I just leave it on all day so I can here the sleds fly by and wish I was up there riding being We have had no snow this year here in northern Indiana. This also gives us a good idea of how the trails are up there as well. I am sitting here watching this right now 2pm 2/12/2017 and you guys are getting some good snowfall heavy wind and I am setting here looking out my window at sunshine 50 degrees and green grass grinding my teeth. Wish there was one of these live cams with sound on trail 8 between Paradise and Pine stump as we like to ride that area as well. We Love riding up north.
Thanks for the live cam.
I can’t ride this year and your cam has allowed me ‘to be out there’ when my loved ones fly by. AWESOME CAM!! You have done a great job!!! Love the sound!!
Awesome cam! Great location too which is rare . It’s hilarious when people know the camera is there, and they make all kinds of gestures driving past….Including myself.
I agree! Some people look at me oddly when I show them the camera. They say “so that’s it?” They just don’t get it and probably never will. #snowmobileblood
Please let me know when “steve” is on the trails. I will stay home. Drinking and driving isn’t acceptable in our society. Ride all day have fun and drink when your sled is parked for the night. Love the open mic with the cam.
What kind of rules or Laws are they on trails about drinking etc.? Also what kind of emergency help like rescue squads on snowmobiles in case a ” serious” accident would occur are you required to have a registration so that you would be known that your out on a trail and check out when done using?
Hi Steve. Many of the rules are the same as for cars. The blood alcohol limit is the same. If you cannot drive a car, you are not allowed to drive a snowmobile. In terms of help on the trails, there is not a system to know who is out on the trail and where. Typically it is not advised to snowmobile alone for this reason. It is always best to have a riding buddy! And who wouldn’t want to go riding!? 🙂
Looks like the feed is down currently. How’s the snow in Gaylord, I’ll be up there tomorrow night.
12 11 2019 Great views until today, camera appears to be snowed in ? ? ?
Looks like nobody’s on the trail. They all must be hunt’n.
Right………….Since there is no snow on trail and the trails aren’t even open yet.
Trails open officially December 1. It is illegal to ride on the trails prior. Looks like there will be snow for opening day!
Just watched a couple go by!
Anyone run trail #7 yet?
Yes, up in Pellston – Mac City. Not groomed on 12/2
Camera is covered.
Is it worth it to come up this weekend ??
Probably not… Still gonna send it!

Looks like no riders today – must be out hunt’n.
Looking good. What do you expect over the next couple days. Anxious Snowmobiler. Any early riding?
No real riding yet. Just enough to run the sleds in the farm field to make sure they work! 🙂
Were down again
Back up! It has been fairly problematic with our internet lately and every time there is a “hiccup” in the connection, it has to be restarted for Youtube.
Happy days!

Tom, you are welcome. Glad you enjoyed the camera!
This is a awesome camera. I live in Windsor Ontario and sled in Gaylord so I can check snow conditions when I want.
Terry
Wow! Thanks for the note! So glad it helps out. It is fun to watch as people stop and wave. See you next year!
Weatherman is calling for meltdown Thursday..
Booo
Do you think the trails will be alright for saturday
They will not be good, but still rideable. Snowing at the moment.
How is it right now?
Surprisingly good!
Let’s see if the base can hold out for one last ride..plz keep us posted would love to come up this weekend.
Its possible, but will be ice.
Almost didn’t come up. Decided at 5pm Friday evening to chance it. Glad I did. Trails were decent and I had them pretty much to myself.
Great! We ended up getting at least 3″ over night!
Switty you think there will still be riding this coming up weekend
Lost over 12″ of base. Riding will be tough. Its possible, but icy frozen will be the base.
switty on the snow stake where is the actual foot mark ? is it the line above example: 1 foot would be 6″ and the line above would be a full foot or is it 1 foot is a full foot and the line above would be 1 and 1/2 foot ?
sorry I meant: 1 feet would be 6″ and the line above would be a full foot or is it 1 feet is a full foot and the line above would be 1 and 1/2 foot ?
The line above the words “one foot” is one foot off the ground. Right now there is about 1- 1 1/2 foot base. Out in the fields it ranges from nothing to 5 foot.
Who made the jump on the side of the trail?
I hope I get to see someone hit it
Just wanted to say we love your sledview trail cam. Helps decide if we’re coming up or not. This weekend was great sledding, hated to leave today.
Thank you. Glad it helps!
I am thinking about heading up this weekend but I see it is supposed to get 36 degrees on Saturday. Is there enough snow on the trails to sustain through the day on Saturday?
Yes. We have over 24″ of base right now.
Hey just asking how the trails are going to be for this weekend heading up this afternoon with wife and Friends
Should be great. It hasn’t stopped snowing for days.
Trails and snow are great
Are the trails good enough to last thru this warm weather the next couple days
Trail is ok till Indian river. North of Indian river is awful and would not recommend it. Extremely bumpy and hard to ride on.
Is the moon out tonight? I can see down the trail . Beautiful site switty!! Thank you!! I’m suffering in very warm weather…
Thanks for the cam. I enjoy it from here in South Florida. From Frankenmuth in the summer. We never had groomed trails in the 60’s just fire trails or made our own until the snow got to deep.
You are welcome!
stopped at the cam sunday 2/10 about 4 pm and took a break… we wavedto anyone watching…had a ball… will return from ohio…
Hey Dana from Indian Lake, Ohio I saw you on sledview cam, I believe you were riding that ski doo. Ron
There’s more traffic on trail 7 today than 75.
we rode on sunday and stopped for a break about 4 pm sunday 2/10 and waved at the cam to all the snowmo buds… had a ball…will be back soon from indian lake ohio…
Welcome back Winter
Thanks Switty. Sorry for the repeat of same question
Will there be enough snow to ride this weekend?
We are to get 2-4″ from Thursday night through Friday afternoon. Riding is possible now, but they have stopped grooming.
rode past the cam sunday about 4 pm,,, stopped for a break and waved at whoever may be monitoring… thanks for the cam…
Hey just asking how the trails are going to be for this weekend heading up this afternoon with wife and Friends
I rode trails yesterday February 8 and good base and plenty of powder and smooth
Will there be enough snow in the area to ride this weekend?
Hit the restart AGAIN
Trail went from white to brown quickly. Terrible winter so far. I would like to say thank you for the cam.
You are welcome! The snow will come back! It might be April, but it always comes!
Will the trails be rideable this weekend?
Its rideable but rough
Thank you for the trail cam
You’re welcome!
What is wrong with the camera?
Down to dirt I see. Trails were perfect just days ago
It’s a Polish farmers kid running this rig…. That’s what’s wrong…
What is wrong with the camera I need to fed my Addiction .
Fed
Thanks! 🙂
UGH camera is covered up…NOOOO
Left on sunday, rode 500 plus in 2.5 days. trails were in great shape. Cant wait to get back. Lots of police activity around gaylord, so please obey stop signs!
I saw Nick out cleaning it off around 11:30 ish. Thanks Nick!
Love this snow cam, I keep it up all day!
leaving tomorrow, heading up to Vanderbilt to ride with some old friends
Mad Dog from NC
Great! Be safe! It was a crazy windy day here today!
That is crazy weather. Be safe and keep the rents warm. We’re cold here also but no snow. Thanks
Switty, do you think the current trail condition will survive the upcoming Sun and Mon warm up with a qtr inch of rain? I’m heading up next week for 4 days Feb 7th-10th. Any local opinion info is really helpful. Thank you.
Hi Rick, I think we will lose some, but we have a strong base, so riding will still be possible and decent.
What are the lights on the tree line behind the temperature gauge? I thought they were northern lights…
That’s Gaylord city lights. Camera faces south
Thank you AftonJay!!
Best way to watch the snow from NC
If we only get the 1/4 inch of rain they might survive and the warm temps are not an all day thing they might survive. But I have a feeling they will be really busy this weekend which may also take a toll. I think they will be rideable, but not great by next weekend.
Switty I think your thermometer is stuck! Every time I look its at 0!
#fakenews
Lollol
im with ya #5,lol
Well finally we are fully covered and as frozen solid as it gets. Beauty Cam there for real views (zero reading is very kind at present). Somebody turn my cabin heat up a little please.
Please clean the snow off the camera lens
Fantastic view and I don’t even ride a snowmobile! However, I love to monitor the snow coverage because this is sort of near my closed-for-the-winter cabin. The quality of the picture is great.
Thanks! Glad you enjoy the camera!
Love your trail cam, just wathced four rest at the cam and another four groups go souith and three groups go north, trhank you for the views LIVE
This trail cam is neat to watch. Where north of gaylord is it at ?
Hi Wayne, it is on Trail #7, at about the spot on this map: https://goo.gl/maps/1fKtmHvSA2N2
Is there a landmark we can reference? We go to the Thirsty Sturgeon often and have not seen this
Its about 2.8 miles north of downtown Gaylord. After you go through the Parmater road tunnel (shorter of the two tunnels heading to Vanderbilt) it will be about .75 miles on your right. It’s up on a 10 foot high pole. You will see the back side of the thermometer. The trail is fairly open and slightly bending to the right if going north. If you hit Kosiara rd (small stop sign that nobody stops at) you went to far.
thanks so much, will be there Saturday
PLENTY of snow now! Come on up and ride! If you have not booked your room yet, check out The Waters Inn @ https://www.thewatersinn.com/ Scott is the benefactor that brought the new Trail 7 Cam to life last year!
Thanks Scott!! Very much appreciated…I’m hooked….lol
I hear ya! Makes me want to get my 2 blown up sleds fixed FAST! seeing all that snow makes me JELOUS I Live 20 miles north of port huron mi. We dont see much snow….
6 snowmobiles went flying by!! Be safe out there
Hi, I see u
great job switty lots of fun to watch!!!! lotta action today
hope the fellow in the lead of the group of ten on saturday afternoon is ok. he was backing up and flipped his sled on its side. those doos are tough
Where was this at ?
About 2.8 miles north of downtown Gaylord.
Was it at the Parmeter tunnel ?
I was only asking because my husband was in an accident Friday just south of the parmeter tunnel and wanted to thank the gentleman helping me
I was driving on Parmeter and saw all the EMS people and wondered what happened. Is he ok?
He’s alive and well pretty banged up both arms splinted broken arm and wrist and humerus other side broken elbow and neck in a collar and some ribs cracked
Just seen my kids ❤️ Be safe and have fun!
i can’t believe the amount of people just stopping on the trail not pulling off to the side. someone is gonna get hurt
Brian
We definitely want people pulling off to the side of the trail. The camera view is a little deceiving. The camera is on a slight bend, so the sleds you see to the right (west) of the trail on the camera, are actually a bit bnb off the trail. The sleds to the left, as long as they are off the groomed area, are off the trail and out of the way.
Just saw the making of the snow angel and best snow dance ever!!….LMAO….glad guys are having fun with the BEST cam in the northern lower….Thanks Switty!!
Thanks for the kind comment. Glad you enjoy it!
That was #nuttztobuttzracingteam in the video! We work hard to have fun! Eric and Nick!
Was a great show…lol…you made my night! Safe sledding gents!
Son just came off of the trail 1/22 /2 019, 9:00pm. He said it was pretty good traveling as he went from Gaylord to the Straits and back but that almost everything was closed – he also said he was about the only one on the trail.
Heading up from pa. thursday morning. Any input on trails is appreciated, thx!!
Tons of snow around Gaylord yesterday and today. Should be great!
LMAO Did you see them guys! LOL! Nice snow dance infront of the camera. LOL
Classic!!
Looks like we will be getting some snow.
https://www.facebook.com/NWSGaylord/photos/a.128456277228978/2416032871804629/?type=3&theater
Snow baby snow
What’s the weather look like for next week?
3-5″ for Tues. and 1-3″ for Wed. next week.. Should improve things quite a bit
I put in 200 miles last weekend. Whats the trail still look like ? did the sun tear it apart or has it been cold enough ?
It’s been cold enough. The groomer ran on Thursday (yesterday).
I’m in denial
I just saw 8 snowmobiles go flying by the camera.
switty ,how much snow did you get on the ground? It looks great!!
We have about 5 inches of new powder in the driveway. It will help the trails if it does not blow away. The wind will get up to about 25mph today and we could see 2-4 inches of more snow by tomorrow.
At least 8 more inches!
It looks like it might snow again. I’m listening to the dogs bark.
Can you tell me how things look as of today? We are coming up tonight, we have a cabin on trail 7 at Otsego Lk. Thanks in advance.
Doing good. Groomer ran yesterday.
Hows the trails holding up
LOL. look at the pic. looks like mud, just saw about 8 dudes roll by. good luck!
busy tonight
Hows the trails holding up
Okay so far. Hoping it doesn’t get much warmer. About 37 degrees actual temp here right now.
Looks like a lot of great riding today! Happy New Year!!
Happy New Year!! I just saw 3 snowmobiles fly by!! Be safe!
The trail is ok for now. Looked like the groomer went north. It is going to warm up later this week and we will see how that turns out.
Are the trails writable
Looks like we are going to get some snow.
https://www.facebook.com/NWSGaylord/photos/a.128456277228978/2369254876482429/?type=3&theater
Yeah! Will be there Wednesday!
Hi Joe
Going riding all day to starvation and back
Hi joe
Happy New year !! Thanks for keeping this web cam active !! Pretty cool
Just saw two sleds wizzed by heading towards Gaylord
Depressing
IKR
So is the trail able to be ridden
Is the trail ready to ride or not enough snow
Enough to play around in but not enough for a real ride.
I just saw a black and white dog and the beige dog following each other down the path.I know its cold I hope they aren’t lost
Any snow storms in sight ?
Ditto
The beach beats this.
Dear Mother Nature, not sure if someone has angered you, but I would like to sincerely apologize. Now may we PLEASE have some snow.

Any locals know how much snow is forcasted for new years eve ?
Weather Bug is telling me 1-2″ by day and 3-5″ after midnight on 31Dec18. Hello from Vanderbilt!
Thanks MichiganJim ! Hello from Toledo, oh
Glad to see the cam back up. I really like viewing it.
Thanks MichiganJim. It is somewhat of a pain as the camera is not built to stream to Youtube natively but it works with a work around. I just have to keep checking it to make sure it is up.
thanks for this cam! it’s nice to see what the trail condition in real time . . . appreciated
You are welcome. I agree. I live up here and still watch the camera!
Sad no snow really anywhere in Michigan
Thank you for keeping this up!
Where’s the snow?
Right!
Did they groom? Didn’t think there was enough snow for it yet
Is the cam down?
Hi Eric. It is back up now.
Who’s gonna be the first one down the trail???
Looking to go this weekend any grooming going in the lower.
I would say
Not yet
Wish it was Me
Come on SNOW
To all our friends who ride the trails, happy sledding and have a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving.
Yeah it’s up!! My Bf says I’m weird cuz I can sit & look @ this forever…lol. COME on MOTHER nature give us a great winter…fyi one of my fav sites. Thx 2 whomever makes it possible
It looks beautiful this morning!! Dress warm!!
You should see the snow coming down today! In the dark, I thought it was fog!
Thank switty the snow is beautiful. I have blue skies and 80 degrees here going to work.
Yes, Need a good base plus the deer hunters are out in force.
When do the trails open because there’s a foot of snow on the cam
Trails don’t open till Dec. 1st and there needs to be a good base.
Hey Brian well will thI cam be up bud.
Seems to be an issue. Give me a day or two and I will see if I can get it live again for the season.
Awesome, checked it Monday morning and it was on I use this webcam so I can come up from Toledo Ohio thanks again Brian
Your welcome! If I ever had enough time to figure out a better way to get it to Youtube it would be more consistent.
I watch it constantly, can’t get enough gaylord snowmobiling
Yes me too switty thanks for doing this it’s one of the most reliable ways to see what’s actually on the trail
Eric
Glad it helps. Got all three sleds out today and rode on the farm fields. Kids loved it!
Looks great!! I too can’t get enough Gaylord area snowmobiling usually go any where from here
Let’s hope it stays from here on out!
You getting that camera up anytime soon ? Wanting to see the base set up.
Seems to be an issue. Give me a day or two and I will see if I can get it live again for the season.
Pretty snowy in Michigan when will the cam be up .

Seems to be an issue. Give me a day or two and I will see if I can get it live again for the season.
It says the recording is not available for me. Is the camera down or is it just me?
The camera is up and running. Getting ready for the season!
CAMERA UP = SNOW SOON
When will the camera be up again?
Seems to be an issue. Give me a day or two and I will see if I can get it live again for the season.
Smitty where the cam
Seems to be an issue. Give me a day or two and I will see if I can get it live again for the season.
Maybe this year we should get another cam facing the opposite way so we have 2 cams
We use to be able to turn the camera and look across the road. Also down the road behind the camera.
I love hearing the bugs, and frogs. Is there a road near by? It sounds like its really busy. Whenever the camera goes down I’ll miss it. Many happy trails!!
First time over a foot.
And it’s April
Brian did you just go by on the trail? Someone on a sled did. Too funny.
Nope. A good handful of sleds are out and about.
Is it ice and snow now can’t tell on cam how are roads? Love your site.
Snowy, sleet, windy, ice. All the above. Roads are blown over.
You have to love Michigan….it looks beautiful
X2. Hate to see the snow melt!
Cam is down??
Back up! Just in time for the 1-2 feet of snow this weekend! 🙂 When Charter goes down, the camera needs to be restarted manually.
Hey #11 are you really getting 35 inches?
Probably not the 35, but possibly 15-20!
Thanks for the camera view. I sure do enjoy it!
Will sleds be out looks like 1 foot of snow
If the trails get enough snow will the sleds be back out on them??
I believe the trails shut down April 1st
I was thinking about it! Looks like it may happen this week!
The camera is back up. Sorry for the downtime. 🙂
Thank you!!
Can you give me a couple hotels around the trail head ,
Not familiar with this area ?
Thanks !
This site has always brought me back home …watching the snow. I hope its not down for tooo long. Its fun to watch in the summer also.
Is the cam down for the season?
Must be you shut down for season. Thanks
How are the trail conditions
How are the trail conditions
Are the trail conditions good
I leave this up for hours while at work during the week. Love this cam!
Is this an atv trail in the summer?
No, rail to trail walking and biking only
no atvs
Thanks for having the camera up again this year. It’s a huge help in deciding to drive 5+ hours.
Who is going to the Gaylord area to ride??
It’s been snowing for a long time
on way
hopefully get 1 more weekend ride in ehhhh???????????????????????
looks like its almost time to braaaapppp!!!!!
Looks like we’re in for a snow storm
yes we r
gonna be enough to ride this weekend?
I’m hoping to have enough snow as well to come up and ride but no one has given me a direct answer
That’s what I’m wondering. Looks fluffy…
Should be, they say Waters got 12″ already and the northern corner like Cheboygan, Rogers City is supposed to get hit pretty good tonight. It wont be great cause it is not set up, but hopefully there wont be a lot of traffic to beat them up.
Thanks for the camera
So sad about our snowmobile season
Thanks for checking in Don. Yes, not a good season at all. It might as well be spring soon!
Really appreciate you providing the camera – you’re providing a great service to us all – thanks!!!
I’ve been clicking on to see the beautiful northern lights in the sky at night ….im sure the snow will be back
Hi Sherry. The camera is actually facing Southwest, so this won’t show the Northern Lights. But, that is a great idea to point the camera to the north once Snowmobile season is over! 🙂
So sad to see the snow gone again
Yes, might as well get spring here soon!
Not again..
Bare trail.
any snow in the 4 cast ?
Not looking good
Bare trails already ?
Pretty thin
So is there enough snow to ride this weekend?
Technically yes, but…
Rode Wednesday Thursday trails were great. Gaylord, wolverine, Vanderbilt, lakes of the north…
Went home Thursday night. Came back up Friday thru Monday… .everybody said trails we’re mostly good.
Sunday there was a small snow 2 inches.
A few fresh inches before the weekend would help..
How are the trails looking for this weekend?
Sorry! Just saw this! They were great! Looks good for a while.
Saturday everyone was riding on the trail it was great to watch from south Florida…
12″ since Thursday! Really??! NOAA says much less than that. Can anyone confirm 12″?
I just re-looked at NOAA – ya, they say 10-12″ since Thursday. I apologize for the doubt.
Keep it coming!!! Be there soon!
All good! Have fun sledding!
Just saw a groomer go by!! That’s good news!
Yes!
Will they groom this??
I doubt it yet. It’s pretty lightweight snow.
Where is this webcam located exactly?
3.5 miles north of Gaylord on Trail #7.
Rode by the camera at about 5 pm and the groomer was behind me
Yes!
Will be good for first 10 guys..
More snow please
Yep probably. Hoping for more snow. The good news is it is going to stay cold so what we have we should be able to keep.
Hey I know that bridge in the picture, used to play there when we were kids. How’s mom and dad doing?
I wonder how much longer they will keep the bridge up. No need anymore really. Could make it another tunnel.
nice pics switty. heading south to gaylord huh?
Thanks! We went up and down the trail from Fairview to Whitmarsh. Kids got cold. It was -4 at that time.
Thats what i like about your you tube. i rewound it and watched you come in with your doo. Looks like your boy is ready for a thundercat…lol
Ha! Just getting him started. Smallest we have though is a 440 and he is only 8!
Keep coming!
4″ at least yesterday! It all helps! I would ride under these conditions although I would not go too far from Gaylord. I drove to Sault St. Marie yesterday via car. The new snow went up to Indian River.
does Gaylord have much snow in march? I won’t be able to get up there until then. Thanks and btw the trail cam is pretty cool
Thanks Matt. Yes, we can get lots in March. It just depends. Gaylord gets 140″ on average in a year.
How much is there now hard to tell on the measuring stick
Just a few inches. Enough technically to ride, but all of our underlying snow is ICE!
Looks like its snowing pretty good there. Are you supposed to get a good amount.
How much snow do you think there is ??
Just a few inches. My 4 year old thinks there is PLENTY to ride. Ha!
Yes!!! Finally….
It’s a start! Thanks for checking in!
The weeds are higher than the snow.
is it worth heading up from ohio no snow here!!!!!!!all melted
Not unless we get lots of new snow.
I am going for a quick ride this morning and will post an update. It’s looking better!
How is the forecast looking
Cold but no snow on the horizon.
Need snow bad want to go riding
For sure! Thanks for checking the camera.
Really appreciate the webcam – thank you! How do you think it’s looking for this weekend?
You could ride, but it won’t be pleasant. There is ice EVERYWHERE. If you need to ride the roads, they are unfortunately dry.
We’ve been getting consistent snow. The weekend outlook is looking better!
Thanks for the update! If there is anyway you could give an assessment on how things are looking early to mid-day tomorrow it would be greatly appreciated (before heading up from Ohio).
I can head out for a ride this morning. I would ride around Gaylord, albeit it won’t be the best. But, it won’t damage the sleds. We got at least 4″ new yesterday and maybe more. I can’t say the groomers would be out.
Hi Brian. I went for a ride with the kids. You can ride. It is mostly fluffy snow 4-6″. The roads are snow covered and have an ice base. See the pictures I just uploaded to the sledview.com page.
Thanks for the insight – we’re on our way up!
How much snow do you think there is??
3-4″ new snow. Not great riding, but you could.
The sleet turned to a fine snow this morning. Here’s hoping! 🙂
Is there is supposed to be a winter snow storm ??
Is the Trail ok to ride ? If i run ice scratchers ? it looks like it is groomed.
No, I would not ride right now.
Snow on Monday and Tuesday
Let’s hope so!
Switty, sorry for the auto correct.
We all love auto “correct” don’t we!?!?! 🙂 All good!
Dirty, thanks for the camera, looks like next storm will miss also.
Yuck! We had such a great December, and pretty much NO January snow!
This January stinks.
That’s for sure! After an awesome December, why this?!?!?!
Where is the snow????
It’s not looking good for the moment, that’s for sure. Thanks for checking in.
We are headed up to ride on Saturday (1/20). Hopefully the trails will be open.
We got about 4″ today, so at least the slides will be lubed!
This is good news. I am planning on the following weekend
Let’s hope it keeps coming! 🙂
Thank you, appreciate the info!!!
Thanks for checking in!
Thanks for the web cam! I don’t snowmobile, but have a cottage up there and like to snowshoe in the winter. Gives me a good idea if it is worth the trip.
Thanks for checking out the camera!
Checked out the camera you have more snow then me in Ontario. I hope you get more snow soon. I will need to come there to sled.
Thanks! We had LOTS more before last week’s thaw. Now just need to wait again.
How much snow do you think there is
Thanks! He just contacted me last week. “Great minds…” Right?!
We need a serious storm ASAP…
For sure!
What a awesome idea hope you guys get your snow back as well great place to snow mobile and stay
Yes! We hope to get snow soon! Thanks for checking in!
I plan to share this Webcam on several of our Black Diamond Broadcasting radio station websites
Today, I’ll begin with 98.5UPS Classic Hits at http://wups.com
Great!Thanks!
Great Cam shot! Thank god I got a set of those Carbide Savers!!!!
Thanks! Yes, those carbide savers are surely needed!
I just found your camera. It’s the best in the state.
I was about to get my snowmobiles out of storage but I guess there is no reason now.
Grant, don’t fret! We will have plenty more snow soon I am sure! Gaylord gets 140″ on average, so this blip won’t last long! Thanks for the nice compliment on the camera.
3 sleds just went by a bit ago there’s just mud lol
#diehard
It melted FAST…..
Unreal
Yeah…. Ughhh.. Time to pray for more snow! It’s all gone.
Wow! Don’t know what happened but can see temp. clearly now.
Hi Bill, it might be the stream resolution. There are different settings on YouTube and “auto” on your end might default to a low resolution setting. It has been pretty consistently streaming at full 1080, so let me know if you have issues and I can see if I need to adjust the settings.
Love this camera. I hope the trail holds up this week. I want to go riding this weekend.
Jason, it’s all gone…
Switty
For some reason I have a problem seeing the dial on your temperature on the post. When I get back to Gaylord I will have to see what I have in stock and perhaps we can get you a new one for the post. It will be my donation.
Bill
Bill, that would be awesome! The bigger the better. Although at night, the infrared might not pick up the needle. Next summer we probably will be moving the thermometer closer and adding a 2nd camera facing north.
Groomer just went by trail cam
Great trail cam, thanks
Thanks for checking in!
I would love to see “big foot” walk across the path…
That would be awesome!
Did they move the trampoline off the trail
Yep! I think it’s been gone for a while.
Hi Switty. Love seeing the elk at your house. 🙂
Thanks! We may put a Livestream camera there too!
Are you going to get out to the cam today and brush it off??
Looks to be all clean now! Thanks for checking in!
Hi everyone from Warren we got nothing for snow
Come on up! Thanks for checking in!
Wish there was more action going on. Nice site will watch it. Thanks
Thanks! Usually the weekends are packed. Saturdays are best for the most sleds and groomer sightings.
Beautiful day to see the snowmobiles… I saw 5 right in front of the camera …be safe out there…
Wow! I told you guys it was going to be a large lake affect blizzard in the good old snow belt of Gaylord and the surrounding area but even I did not realize this one. Happy sledding everyone.
What are the trails like up there? Heading up in morning
Thank you. We will be in Lewiston. Hope the trails over to Gaylord are good.
Love this web cam We will be in Mancelona in two days. Keep that snow coming.
Perfect timing! We should get over a foot tomorrow!
switty ,stop and clear the snow from the camera please
Hi Sherry! I think the wind did it for us already! It’s blowing super hard right now! (Isn’t it a great problem to have… To have to clean off the snow from the camera!)
Thank you growing up in Rochester Hills area I don’t miss the snow. It’s beautiful to look at
heading up after xmas come on snow ready to ride ohio guys Fredric bound
Frederick is great!
We are from Gaylord but winter in Tucson. Just talked to my son who is still in Gaylord and he said they are going to get slammed with lake effect very soon. SO if you are an outdoor person, get to it. He has ridden his sled all over the area already and said there are meny in the Gaylord doing so.
Thanks for checking in! More snow is always better!
There has been many reports of snowmobiles on private land. Please show some respect.

Is the camera down this morning 12/22
Nope! It seems to be working consistently for the past 23 days.
What are all the light anomalies I saw between 19-45 -20-07.viewing from uk
Hi. The camera has an infrared setting at night. I think it is just the way the house lights in the distance show up with infrared. Thanks for checking in!
Any chance of riding wed? I know it will be cold but did anything survive these 2 days?? Gaylord area is the target or anyspot with snow!
You can ride this Trail, it just might be thin in areas. Riding on the edges might be the best bet. We will get some flurries on Wednesday and then more snow Thursday and later.
Is this trail open all the way up to mackinaw
Yes and no. There is enough snow to ride, but at Cheboygan, there is a detour for part of the trail on to a road due to a bridge bring deemed unsafe for this winter.
Here we are December 18 and melting away..
Bummed out….
Are u in that area?
I think the melting is done. And we do still have snow it is just hard to go on the roads in between Trails if that is needed. The trails will have enough snow to at least ride albeit pretty thin.
Seeing as how one can arrive at any destination more comfortably in a car, does it serve any purpose for snow machines to zoom by at 50 MPH, thus rendering it impossible to lift their eyes off of the narrow confines of the snow and trail unless endangering themselves and rendering impossible any enjoyment of nature and scenery except out of the corner of the eye?
Hi Steve. Thanks for posting. I guess everyone has their different interests in life! That’s what makes humans amazing! We all are different!
Looking to ride the Gaylord area this year. Where is a good place to stay close to trails.
Thanks,
Tom from Ohio
Lots of places to choose from in Gaylord. Mainline hotels, smaller motels, etc. If you want simple, clean, and across the street from the trails, I would recommend http://www.thewatersinn.com/ Check availability. MANY snowmobilers stay there for the great rate and are gone most of the day and do not need the amenities of the larger hotels.
The Ridge.
Benjamin’s Beaver Creek Resort
Looking forward to returning as many times as I can. This is a great way to help anyone looking to head this way to sled! Thank you again for such a wonderful contribution! I have this bookmarked and I watch so I can see when conditions are right to go. Went up last weekend to explore, broke in my new sled and did the Harley ‘wave’ for your cam. I plan to do that every time I go by. It’s my new thing! Awesome!
Thank you Amber! So great you have found it on the trail! Happy sledding!
Working on building nearby next year!
Wow! Cool! Where is nearby?
Whats the trails looking like? We are headed up Wednesday. Hoping to be some decent riding,
We are getting constant snow this week so the base is starting to build! Still pretty fluffy, but plenty to ride!
Thanks. What’s the weather look like next week?? Planning on being up Wednesday and stayin till Sunday’s. Thanks
Phenomenal view! Great to see the conditions and the depth meter is nice! Love tuning in throughout the day. Great ‘Zen’ moments, thanks to this cam!
We agree. Nothing better to make the day more enjoyable then hearing sleds pass!
Thanks for sharing your cabin post Courtney.
The snow this morning looks like shooting stars. Thanks so much for keeping this camera active. I love it!
You are welcome Greg! We love the new camera!
Thank you from Ohio ! Can’t wait to be there.
For sure! Get up and get riding!
Thank you from Shanghai, China. Can’t wait to get home and on the trails for the next few weeks. love seeing the snow on the cam.
Thanks Tim! Have safe travels home! Glad you can check it out from the other side of the world!
Looks like they groomed???
Groomer went through 6:36 am. The year has begun!!!!!
Awesome view. PLEASE keep it going this year.
We will try! We have done some work to make it more consistent, but I am at the mercy of the youtube rules so hoping it goes okay!
I love this view! Used to be a Snowman cam man. Is’s not working anymore so this is how I am viewing Gaylord snow conditions now.
Thanks for watching!
Groomer went through 6:36 am. The year has begun!!!!!
SNOW SNOW SNOW…COME ON MOTHER NATURE
Sky is so green looks like northern lights.
I was watching today when two guys stopped their snowmobiles and waved. Have you ever seen wild animals on the video? The sky is greenish tonight.
Mostly only birds interested in the lens of the camera.
That was me on the blue sled
Be careful out there !! Thanks for waving it made me smile
For sure! Glad you can watch!
Love the camera and all your efforts……thank you from Ohio
You are welcome! Thanks for checking in. Looks like we get to start riding!
See any sleds yet ??
seen 6!
I was on there at 13:30 today stopped and waved
All that snow
No tracks???
There are tracks! We made some!
Hey Joe & Brian it’s your cousin Chip. Who is Switty, Joe or Brian. I’ll be watching
Hi Chip! I guess that will remain a mystery! 😉
woohoo ! thank you for the camera !
For sure! I went for a quick ride up to Vanderbilt to get gas. Not groomed yet, but lots if snow!
Hey Joe & Brian it’s your cousin Chip. Who is Switty, Joe or Brian. I’ll be watching
How does the grooming work when do they go out is it by the amount of snow how does it work when do they go on the trail ??
Groomers will start the season panning{packing} if they get above 8″ to establish a good base. During the season most counties will groom 6 days a week as long as the temps hold up. Nice thing about this site is you can rewind the camera on you tube and watch the groomer go by at night. Pretty cool
But how does it work with grooming when do thyou y do it or is about the amount of snow how does grooming work when do they go out and do the trails ??
Looks like we’re in for a big snowstorm and snow all week ❄️
Let’s hope so! I see the camera needs to be brushed off, which is a great thing!
Nice. Sounds like the snow is coming shortly. Thanks for having this camera. I check from the GR area all the time before we head up on the weekends. Love it.
For sure. Thanks for checking in!
Thanks for the cam.
Let it snow
Let it snow! Yes! Let it snow!
Not such a snowy December 1 like you wanted sadly
Sadly for sure! Let’s go weather! Bring us some snow!
Will the detour make it so the sleds go by the cam
The washout is a couple of miles north of the camera, so it would not affect going by the camera or not.
followed the link to facebook pic. Any progress on the washout fix ?
The trail is fixed! We took a picture a couple of days ago. Now we just need snow!
where’s the pic located at?
CAN U EMAIL ME THE PIC. I WILL POST IT ON HARDCORE SLEDDER.
Thank you for the pic,I’ll post it
For sure!
I watch your trail from south Florida. We heard a dog baking last night and my dog started barking. Thank you for sharing the beauty of Michigan..
That’s awesome! Thanks for checking in! The dog that was barking was probably Baxter, a Golden retriever. 🙂
Will the wash out affect the trail on webcam
It is supposed to be fixed by December 1, so hopefully not! If it is not fixed by then, the detour will not be too bad or long as there are roads close by to travel on.
I look at this camera often to check on snow conditions. If things look good I try to plan a trip right away, and if I have planned one already I check to make sure it hasn’t melted. Thanks for putting this up, and keeping it up! Scott – North Webster, Indiana and his buddies
Thanks Scott! We enjoy it, so glad you do too!
have they fixed the washed out trail yet?
It doesn’t look like it, yet. Check out https://www.facebook.com/pg/TrailsCouncil/posts/ and you will see a post from Nov. 15 with a picture of the culvert that is to be installed. You may want to see the post from Nov. 18 as well regarding a re-route in Cheboygan due to a bridge closure. It looks like we will be able to use the trail all the way to Mackinaw city, but it won’t all be the normal trail.
THANKS FOR THE INFO
Love having this cam to check on snow and see riders going by thanks for having it
You’re welcome! Thanks for checking in!
Great cam for checking out snow conditions! Fun to watch the riders go by and check out all the types of sleds. Gotta love winter!
If you don’t love it, you’re gonna hate it! The more anyone can get out and enjoy it, the more fun winter is!
we cant wait to come up the boys from ( the shop ) in espyville pa love the web cam
Thank you! Hoping to update the site before Dec. 1 to include weather, on the spot trail reports, cached pics and video!
Looks like a good start can’t wait
Let’s hope so!
Yeah it’s up!! Started watching early 2017. Gotta new sled & can’t wait to bring it to mi. Love keeping track of weather on cam 7

Can you put your comment box on the top of the page?
Everybody’s a critic…. 😉
Trail walk in Ohio. Fun to see a trail cam on the Tube!
Thanks!
Ready to see the white on the cam!!!
Yes for sure!
Al Right !!! Snowing already,, let it freeze hard, get the base going,, I can’t wait to make my trips from Tn. to the great white North !!! I’m a Gander that loves skiing and snowmachining
That’s awesome!
Awesome can’t wait!
One month to go!
Flying tigers snowmobile club thanks you in providing us this camera again this year
Thanks! Hoping to keep it more consistent this year and give weather and trail updates!
HOW far are u from the trail washout?
About 3 1/2 miles south of there. Have not had a chance to check it out yet. Hoping it is fixed by December 1!
Seen this camera set up a month ago while southbound on the trail. Thought for a second, is that the trail cam I’ve been watching? Turns out it was! Thanks for doing this. Nice to see it when I’m back home in NY wishing I was on my machine.
Hi Dave, glad you are enjoying the camera! Looks like the season is over, but we can dream snowy dreams until a hopefully snow filled December 1!
As a former Michigander now living in Florida, I love the cam! We have a vacation home in Lewiston and get up there once or twice each winter for some snowmobiling. This camera is great for checking the conditions, and getting fired up for some fun!
Glad you found the camera!
this is a bang up idea and really cool. hope to see it in person one day soon. it gives me joy to see actual wind blowing and sleds passing by.thanks again Ken from millington,mi.
You’re welcome! It has been a nice addition to have an HD camera to see the snow detail. 🙂
just saw the groomer go by a moment ago, then a sled going the other way. this is sooo cool. I will be going by there myself tomorrow. awsome, thanks again Ken
Groomer sightings are the best! Check out this up close video from the end of January! https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1712081215788682&id=101929179845076
LOL thx for the Ohio, Michigan banter
All in good fun! We snowmobile crazies stick together regardless of location!
looking at the new snow today makes me wish this was Dec 1st, Not March 1st!
Thanks for the New Cam
Yes! Could still get out riding though! Let’s hope for a full winter March!
What kind of Camera are you using? Wouldn’t mind seeing if I could get one setup on Trail 30 near Farwell.
Hi, it is a Ubuiqiti Unifi G3 https://www.amazon.com/Ubiquiti-UVC-G3-Unifi-Camera-G3perp/dp/B01EZYTYLC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1488471188&sr=8-1&keywords=ubiquiti+g3 with a board on top of the pole to protect it from direct weather as it is not “IP66” (full weatherproof) rated. So far so good though!
awesome camera view, thank you very !
Glad you like it!
Any other cams you like??
I have not found any other live cams on snow trails.
Thanks! Glad you are able to enjoy it!
Awesome cam! Great location too which is rare . It’s hilarious when people know the camera is there, and they make all kinds of gestures driving past….Including myself.
Ha! It’s fun to watch people who see the camera.
Awesome smitty, I have a place in houghton lake but I like to see snowfall totals there too.. love the cam and audio
very cool! I will be there with the family on Feb 18th
Hoping the snow stays for a while longer!
Nice! I’d like to see one of these in Lakes of the North
That would be great!
wish there were more of these
That would be great! Mostly the issue is location. It just happens to work for where this camera is.
Thanks for having this! Sure is giving me the sledding fever! Heading back up from IN tomorrow!
You’re welcome! It’s been a decent year at least in Gaylord!
Great idea, thanks!
Thank you for visiting!
Great idea! Very cool
Love the Cam were about is this on trail #7 looks like Vanderbilt ?
It is just about 3.5 miles north of M-32 in Gaylord on Trail 7. At night you will see a light on. (most of the time)
thank you so much for keeping this going… it is nice to sit and watch it and imagine being there when you cant be…. lol thank you
I agree! Some people look at me oddly when I show them the camera. They say “so that’s it?” They just don’t get it and probably never will. #snowmobileblood
Awesome cam!
Thank you!
Great!!! Thank you
Kool…
Please let me know when “steve” is on the trails. I will stay home. Drinking and driving isn’t acceptable in our society. Ride all day have fun and drink when your sled is parked for the night. Love the open mic with the cam.
Awesome camera day or night. Need more through out the trails. Great job!!
Thanks! We hope to have the old camera setup this summer in the same location but facing north.
This is so coll I love snow.
Thanks! Hope you can get out to ride the trails some time!
love the new cam thank you so very much
Thanks! It is much better image and having it stream through youtube makes it much more accessible! Glad you like it!
